EggTracker started back in 2008 as a personal side-project, spun off from FoodMiles.com. The question behind it was a simple one: when you buy a box of eggs from the supermarket, where do they actually come from?
There was already a code printed on every egg that answered that question -- it's just that almost nobody knew how to read it, or had an easy way to look it up. EggTracker was built to close that gap: type in the code and your postcode, and see a rough answer.
It's still exactly that today -- a small tool built for fun, run independently, and not affiliated with any supermarket, egg producer, or government body. It's had a few updates over the years, including a full visual refresh in 2026 (the hand-drawn logo is original and deliberately unchanged), some new pages, and a proper FAQ -- but the core idea hasn't moved: enter a code, find out where your egg has been.
